Janie's Charity Dodgeball Tournament at TJX IT
November 14th, 2019
Wow! Over another £100 raised by our friends in the IT department at TJX in Watford!!
Some of our lovely supporters decided to hold a fundraiser with a difference - a department wide Dodgeball Tournament!! What a way to raise money for our homeless friends, whilst also allowing much needed therapy at the end of a long working week with friends/colleagues!
One of the team captains even went to extra lengths to create a preparation video from that morning through to the final match! Brilliant! Love to see that everyone got involved in this and had such fun supporting us, the TJX guys have reassured us that they will be making this a regular event moving forward after the success of their first ever tournament!
Thanks to all at TJX who took part and to the amazing Josh Bowen who was inadvertently roped in to do most of the hard work on the night!
We have been reassured that despite a few hard hits - including some to the head, no players were harmed!
If you would like to get on the Dodgeball train with your own colleagues/friends, why not get in touch - Janie's now have the equipment to support you and can lend this out for events as needed! Not to mention, help you with the poster - check the TJX template out - they have allowed us an editable copy for others to pinch in future!
Bring out your inner competitive beast and get Ready, Steady, Dodgeball!!! all in the aid of our homeless friends!
OUR FIRST FAMILY FUN DAY!
We have finally held our first ever Family Fun Day - and what an amazing turnout we had!
Thanks to our wonderful supporters at The Squirrel pub in Penn, we had an amazing day of fun in the sun raising money for our homeless friends!
We had a range of stalls such as Janie's Cupcakes, Tombola, Sweets etc. not to mention a selection of children's games and activities - from Hook-a-Duck, Tin Can Alley, Face Painting, Hair Braiding - and not forgetting our infamous Stocks! Our lovely friend Lloyd, kindly made stocks for our event as a donation, and great fun was had by all - including our own volunteers! You will find a picture here of Josh vs Josh - great giggles!
Overall on the day, once we accounted for costs etc, we raised a whopping £800 for our homeless friends - we were very humbled by this great result and thank everyone again who supported - whether by turning up on the day, donating prizes, manning a stall etc - THANK YOU!
Thank you to all of our amazing local suppliers who donated prizes for our raffle, ranging from restaurant vouchers, fitness/beauty gift cards, 46" LED TV! It has been so lovely handing out all of the prizes to our raffle winners - many of whom had left for the day, so were delighted to get a text the following morning announcing their win!
We are already starting to plan our next fundraising event, so please watch this space!

HOPE FOR OUR HOMELESS FRIENDS
July 16th, 2019
As you may have noticed from our recent posts, we were delighted to be a part of the amazing Art Exhibition called Homeless - A Campaign for Change, which was run by the amazing Daniel Swan. This campaign is an extraordinary effort to change the way in which we tackle homelessness in the UK, by taking action instead of just talking. Daniel's vision is to obtain enough support and funding to launch a form of recovery centre for our homeless friends whereby people can have access to a safe space to recover from the trauma of their recent experiences. An operation fully funded and managed by volunteers (e.g. no high paid CEO or government/corporate driven agenda).
The vision for this space will only be feasible if each and every one of us can get behind it and support where we can - whether via a small donation, sharing on your social media pages, telling friends etc. We have over 2,000 followers on Facebook alone, that's a significant amount of financial backing if each of us could spare even just £5 or £10.....
You can find out more via Daniel's GoFundMe page below which has a lot more information, a brief video with some of the people he has encountered and drawings/plans to show his vision of the new centre!
